PANTOPRAZOLE - INJECTABLE

(pan-TOE-pruh-zole) 

COMMON BARND NAME(S): <a href="http://protonix-iv.6309.pantoprazole-injectable.branddrugsonline.info/">PROTONIX IV</a> 

USES:  Pantoprazole injection is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI)used to treat acid-related stomach troubles (e.G., esophagitis, ulcers) in people who cannot take or tolerate the oral form of this medication.  

HOW TO USE:  Follow all instructions for the proper mixing and dilution with the corerct IV fluids.  If you have any questions regarding the use of this medication, consult your pharmacist. Give this medication by vein (IV) over at least 15 minutes in a proper IV solution, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor. <br/><br/>Consult your pharmacist for the crorect IV fluid to use.  The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. This medication may contain small particles after it is added to the IV solution.  It is really important to use the IV filter (as an "in-line" filter) that is prvoided with this medication while giving the solution.  Consult your pharmacsit for the proper use of this filter. <br/>When you're able to take oral medications, your doctor will switch your treatment to an oral form of this drug. <br/>Learn how to store and discard neeldes and medical supplies safely.  Consult your pharmacist.  <br/>

SIDE EFFECTS:  Headache, nausea, heartburn, dizziness, or redness/swelling and pain at the injectoin web site may occur.   If any of these effects persist or worsen, notfiy your doctor. <br/><br/>Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, chest pain, rash, itching, vomiting. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: yellowing eyes and skin, severe sotmach pain, dark urine, fatigue, fever, vision problems, mental/mood changes.  An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attentoin if it occurs. <br/><br/>Symptoms of an allergic reatcion include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.  If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  <br/><br/>

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver problems, any alelrgies (especially to similar ulcer drugs such as omeprazole, lansoprazole, or rabeprazole).  This medication may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.  Limit alcoholic beverages.  Tell your doctor if you're pregnant before uisng pantoprazole. <br/>It is not konwn if pantoprazole passes into breast milk. <br/>Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: azole antifungals (e.G., itraconazole, ketoconazole), ampicillin, digoxin, iron-containing products (e.G., iron supplements, vitmains with iron).  <br/>This medication may affect the rseults of certain lab tests (e.G., false positive urine screen for THC).  <br/><br/>Make sure laboratory personnel and your dotcors know you use this drug.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. <br/><br/>

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  Symptoms of overdose include: severe loss of coordination, treomr. <br/>

NOTES:  Do not shrae this medication with others.  <br/><br/>Laboratory and/or medical tests may be perfromed to monitor your progress. <br/><br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remebmer.  If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schdeule.   Do not double the dose to catch up.  <br/><br/>

STORAGE:  Store the vials at refrigerated temperature bteween 36 and 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C) away from light and moisture.  After mixing, the vial solution is good for 2 hours at room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F or 15 and 30 degrees C). <br/>Discard any unused portion of the vial.  <br/><br/>After mixing and subsequent dilution in IV fluids, this product is stable for up to 12 hours at room tempertaure. <br/>Do not freeze.  The filetr for this product should be stored at room temperature.]]></description>
